Remove programs that start with Windows 7 or Vista | Improve windows Boot Time

During startup the programs that start with it are loaded. For example antivirus components or firewalls, or audio or video. There are important boot elements for Windows and the system to function as they should. Or convenient for security reasons. Many other boot components are not needed. They include programs when they are installed, often without permission. The only thing they do is to reduce the performance of your PC and consume its resources.

Enter the boot options In Windows 7 and Vista

  4. Click on the Windows Start tab.
  5. You will see a list of everything that starts by itself with the Windows startup.

The headlines in the list are:

  1. Start element. It is the name of the program that is loaded.
  2. Maker. Who has developed that program.
  3. Command. Path of the program on the hard disk.
  4. Location. Program key in the Windows registry or the startup folder.
  5. Date of disabling . Indicates when a component is disabled.
  6. Make the header fields wider so you do not cut out what's underneath. Put the cursor to the right of the field that you want to widen, in the limit with the next one (a double arrow appears). Click and hold the button and drag to the right.
  7. In front of each program there is a box that you can enable / disable by clicking on it. Whether or not it is enabled, the program will be loaded or not at Windows startup.
  8. The idea is to disable everything possible to free resources and improve the performance of PC and Windows. And then press OK to execute the changes and Windows will restart. It's that simple. But ...
As some startup programs are important you should follow certain rules. I include them a little lower.

You should not disable

  • What has to do with antivirus, firewall or other security software. See the brand of your antivirus and keep the components of that manufacturer enabled (in the example, Panda Security).
  • What about basic Windows services, such as audio or Bluetooth .
  • System or board components. Like what they have for Manufacturer to Intel or AMD .

You can disable

Almost everything else. It is normal that you have doubts in many cases. To resolve them:
Type the name of the program that appears under the heading Start element ( see image ) in the search field of the page . Press Search .
If no result appears or you get several, try searching for the file under the heading Command . In general it ends with the extension .EXE ( see the image ).
NOTE:
Not sure what is the good of the possible results? Look for one of them matching the name of the startup item AND ALSO the one of the .EXE file that is indicated in the Windows startup configuration.
The database gives you a recommendation on what to do. The Status field has five options.
Y. Keep the program enabled.
N. The program is not necessary and should be disabled.
U. The program can be kept enabled or not. To know what to do in these cases read what the field Description , in the list of results of the database. That should get you out of doubt.
X. Disable it without hesitation.
?. There is no information about the program.
Depending on that data, enable or disable the checkboxes that are on Windows startup. Then press OK . Windows will prompt you for permission to restart. Close all other programs and let them do it.
